A Brief Musical History of Jude
Starting from my first band in the early 1980s, The Black Bats playing bass guitar. Highlights include getting Julie Christie's autograph! During my school days I was in a few different bands playing electric guitar and singing. The Fatal Teaspoons and The Funky Monarchs spring to mind. We covered lots of songs from Mott the hoople to Joy Division. I hooked up with fellow musician Richard just before 6th form, forming our heavy metal band Inhalation. We started writing original material at this point. This band went through various incarnations with a different line up. Inhalation became Stompa then Crossbreed then finally Headcase. We were most active gigging between 1991 and 1996. During this time we won a battle of the bands competition in the midlands. In 1997 I started writing, recording and gigging as a solo artist, playing mainly acoustic guitar and singing. Since then I've recorded 9 Albums. The last five have been studio albums , engineered and produced by Pat Collier in Gravity Shack studio and Perry Vale studio in south London. Each album has been a project in itself. Elephant Feet (2005), Morning Sun by The Jude and Tom Edwin-Scott Band (2008), Rolling Drum(2011), Fifty Silver Bells and Nine (2015) and Seagulls and Crows (2016). The other musicians that feature prominently on all these albums are Pablo Paganotto on Drums and backing vocals, Neil Mookherjee on bass guitar, Tom Edwin-Scott on guitar and Mark Cartmell on Piano. During this time I've also played guitar and sung on occasion with The Explorer's Collective. I feature on their albums 13ZEROS (2009) and A Hell Of A Bizarre (2012). In the last year and a half I've been playing music with Richad, Paul, Ben and Matt revisiting my metal roots, all great guys and superb musicians.
